About me
I first became interested in editing more than 30 years ago while working as a typesetter; I just couldn’t resist making corrections as I typed.
I studied Anthropology at Lakehead and McMaster universities. After obtaining a BA and a TESL certificate, I spent about 15 years teaching English as a Second Language, including 4 years in Oaxaca, Mexico, and 5 years in Jeju, Korea. I’ve also lived in various places in Canada, as well as the US states of Oregon and West Virginia.
While living overseas I was often asked to edit materials for organizations, businesses, governments, and colleges. I was particularly attracted to academic editing for its concise style, and because I learned something new from every manuscript. Since going into business in 2003, I’ve edited hundreds of journal articles, book chapters, and other academic materials.
In 2009 I moved to beautiful Denman Island, on Canada’s west coast. If you’re ever in the area, I’d love to show you around.
